I didn’t like the last Superman movie and I’m not really on board with Ben Affleck as Batman, so I’m waiting to pass judgement on this.
Back in the 90’s, DC Comics and Warner Bros. wanted to re-boot the Superman franchise, and for a blink-and-you-missed-it moment, Nicolas Cage was officially on board to play him (with Tim Burton directing). Nic is famously obsessed with Superman (he literally named his son Kal-El, Superman’s birth name), so he very much wanted to do the movie. Now some old footage of Nic in costume has emerged, and it begs the question: would America have been on-board with a Superman that wears a deep v-neck?

Warner Bros. released it early after it was leaked. Though I remain skeptical that the leak wasn’t planned to give it some free press to take attention away from the new Star Wars trailer that dropped last week.

My near-epic failure of a Superman costume was saved
Tonight I’m dressing as Superman Prime, which is essentially the regular Superman uniform but black and silver rather than blue and red. I special ordered it from Hong Kong to get the size right because I’m elfin. The costume fit, but something was just… off. Oh yeah, that Superman S looks nothing like an S! That would seem important! THANKFULLY, one of my best friends happens to be a kick-ass big-deal costume designer, and he was able to fix it by cutting new pieces from the bottom of my cape. MORAL OF THE STORY: find yourself a friend who’s a costume designer.
BTW, feel free to go ahead and subscribe to my blog, reblog, and/or share on Facebook and Twitter, thx!
One of these guys could be your next Batman
Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, and Joe Manganiello are all said to be in the mix to play Batman in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel that will pit Superman against the Dark Knight. Why Joseph Gordon-Levitt isn’t in the mix escapes me since they kind of set him up for it at the end of The Dark Knight Rises. Here’s the full list of alleged contenders.
Was Christopher Reeve in Man of Steel (via CGI)?
A reader on Reddit seems to think so. I kinda see it, but I didn’t notice it when I was watching the movie, mostly because I was itching to get out of the theater because I disliked the movie so much.
